I am hoping Fallout 3 is going to be good. As a true PC gamer and Fallout fan I SERIOUSLY doubt it will keep true to the earlier installments of the franchise, and that's a shame.

So basicly, I think it is going to be all-right of a game but it won't be as good as the previous ones.

Now, the REASON as to why I don't think it will is because:
1. New company developing it. Bethesda Softworks is currently developing Fallout 3, their most successful installments have previously been the TES series. Latest of which is the Oblivion with expansion pack The shivering Isle. Oblivion is allright of a game however the developers screwed up big time on a couple of things.

2. New platform. FO3 is currently being developed for the PC and the Xbox. From my experience this usually means that the PC version is going to be a lil' dumbed down because of the game also being on the Xbox, wether the reason is marketing-related or hardware related, or maybe both, I will leave unspoken of.

3. New perspective. The previous installments of the Fallout are all in isometric view, aka birdseye's view. You look on your character from above, as in the Diablo series for example. Fallout 3 however will be either First person, over-the-shoulder and perhaps some sort of isometric view. Alot of the old Fallout fanbase, including me, feels that Bethesda is taking too much of a leap from the original Fallouts by going for First person. Alot of the fanbase is concerned that the game is not going to be developed for the fanbase that has been longing for a third installment for over 10 years, but rather for the mainstream masses which means it is going to be dumb downed, lack depth and replace it with bloom and gore to appeal to the average console-user. We feel that this is NOT what Fallout is about, but then again, only time can tell wether this game is going to praised above the skies by it's old and new fanbase, or scorched by the hardcore fans whos dedication for the old games and what they represent can only be compared to that of a raging mob of religious cult people.
