Yeah VLC and uTorrent are 2 great programs.

Foxit Reader is better than Adobe Reader, also Pidgin is good for IM.

Opera - Internet browser great alternative to FireFox, has a lot of the same features
Avast - Anti-virus
Putty - SSH application for Windows
