Hi all,

Do any of you know how to speed up downloads thru a LAN?

I have a dedicated server here at my office, and all my co-workers and I love to get some killing in at the end of the day ... problem is, at 20k it takes 20 minutes to download new maps (crazy, I know)

any ideas?

just an idea but since ur referring to an office network why not copy the usermaps folder from the server to a shared drive and then let each client copy it into their main cod folder?

It's an option for sure... but there is a whole lot of us (in different departments, some are not even remotly technical)

It's starting to look like thats my only option.

Depending on how your network is constructed. You could set up an ftp server on a computer in your network with the necessary files. Setup your redirect in your server.cfg with the correct address and what-not. You should see a big improvement with no additional work for the end users.

if you have a linux machine this can be done quite easily with proftp. im sure there are options in win as well.

there is plenty of info on this website and others to guide you along with setting up your redirect.
