Default My Xbox

The good news is that I had the Xbox for well over 2 years and I haven't gotten the dreaded RRoD yet. Unfortunately, there has been a number of things that does go wrong.

1.) Sometimes, when I start it up, the ring shows only 1 red ring (lower right hand corner) and it says there is a hardware issue. But normally I just restart it and it works fine.

2.) My disk drive might be broken since sometimes when I press the button for it to come out, it gets "stuck." Sometimes I have to continually open and close to get it out, but sometimes I have to take my fingers and pry it out. Or sometimes it doesn't automatically roll out and just sticks half of it out and I have to pull it out to put my disk in.

Anything I should do or should I just deal with it for the time being? I really don't want to send it to Microsoft to get it fixed (my parents will naturally blame me for breaking it).

If you don't want Microsoft to check it out, you're probably just gonna have to deal with it. Has there been some sorta bad thing that happend to the box? Such as it dropped to the floor from somewhere high, something hit it, spilled something on it, or has it been in good condition and now it's starting to be an asshole to you?

The older the system is the more wear and tear on it. The disk drive might be a stripped gear inside the Xbox. Or simply dust collecting inside of the gear drive.

Alright, I'll use compressed air later =)

And @Jin: nope, I treated my xbox like it was my baby. I never left it on for more than say 6 hours at a time, and I put a cover over it (prevent damage from the sun or so my parents say) after I'm done.

Ah I see, then it just might be doing this because that "baby" is gettin' old.
