Thanks MnMs. I actually did that last night before I sent out the request for help.
I downloaded DirectX9c from the Microsoft website, tried to install but it said that I was current. (2.2ghz machine)
So then I loaded COD4 on another computer that I have (slowest, worst vid card) and WTF it loaded and *RAN* (at a low resolution). (2ghz machine)
So this morning I decided I would switch out the AGP cards in the two computers. X1650Pro <==> X1050. I got that straight and started COD on the 2ghz and guess what came up? iw3mp.exe error. S.O.B.
I renamed the mssmp3.asi to .bak in the [Miles] folder and it works like a champ.
Now I think it might have something to do with the Nvidia Audio drivers on the 2.2ghz machine (Emachines t3256). The machine played COD2 just fine.
DirectX has now got me screwed up.
