Like in Call of Duty 4, users may have problems with the Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer or single player executables crashing or failing to launch.

As always, the default advice is to make sure you have all of your drivers updated including graphics drivers and your audio/sound card drivers.

You may also try plugging in a microphone, that worked with the iw3mp.exe error in Call of Duty 4.

my problem is solved , a few days ago my graphic card was also freezing and never did it before
then completely jamed
i ve got stripes on my screen

now i ve got rid of the 9800 series and bought an ATI 5770 , now no more .exe faults no more freeezing ....

so its a pretty hard graphic game , if i fried my GPU lol

Hi guys, ive had this problem for about a day

Theres alot of crap replys about downloading dodgee updates etc

Add me to the growing list...I have tried all fixes and all drivers are up to date..but still getting this stupid error message. All my problems started after the last MW2 patch.. I'm jinxed with this game..My system died whilst playing this game and had to wait 4 weeks to get it back up and running after RMA,ing a faulty motherboard...Now I have my PC up and running again only to have this stupid error bugging teh crap out of me..fml

My game worked fine for months. Literally shut down the game to make dinner, came back after eating, and now it freezes at the logo and... NOTHING. I've uninstalled/reinstalled twice, both single and multiplayer, updated all my graphics/drivers...

Sounds like no one has a fix that works. I am SUPER PISSED. I didn't pay 60+ for this load of horse ****!

I am having the same problem. I had XP SP3 and it happened alot so i thought i might upgrade to windows 7 ultimate and it still happens. I have a head set with a mic so thats not the problem. I clicked control panel> sound> recording tab, right click in the blank area and showed disabled devices and stereo mix was not one of them so I couldnt even try that. I had the retail version on my computer then i erased it and tried the download steam version and that didnt work either. All of my drivers are updated. I cant effing believe that there is no answer for this. And so many people have the problem. Are there any other ideas?

Hi all!
So my problem is when I start cod4/WaW i can connect with server and start play .. but in few seconds my connection down ..
But just in game because in Msn and others sites is normal ... i not understand because I open all ports manual and formatted pc but the problem not disappear :S

It looks like everyone has found their own way to solve this problem (if at all).

Here's what I did and it WORKED FOR ME:

In Video options, select Optimal, let COD6 set its own settings, then adjust the resolution to a reasonable ratio (don't go for full HD from the start). LEAVE THE REST OF THE SETTINGS INTACT. It worked for me I used to play with custom settings in HD-res now I play 1680 x 1050 with most other settings to max (not all though).

Played 15 games in a row no probs.

Try it.
