I've been reading guides on the forum and noticed a few mentions about connection bars.
I usually get 3 bar connections, rarely get 2 and rarely get 4. I do not know how to tell if I lag, sometimes I miss knife attempts and sometimes I shoot at someone alot, they kill me and in the killcam it doesnt even show me shooting at all. But it does not happen all the time. I do not think my internet is as good as most, I did a speedtest with these results.
Are those results good or bad? I noticed the upload is significantly lower than the download.
From what I understand, the host always has 4 bars and ping means the time it takes for us to leech from his internet, so a smaller number ping would be best? This is probably incorrect, please correct me if I am wrong. I like it how in mw2 it finds games with lowest possible ping first, I dont remember cod4 having that. Usually the matches I get into are 80+ ping.
Basically what I'd like to know is how many bars are enough to have a decent game? How much internet speed is required to play without lag? What are your experiences with connection bars and how many do you usually get?
about a week or so,i was only 4 bars.now,on the same connection i´m only 3.donno about others,but 4 bars/3 bars is a big diff.
if you have less than 3 bars just stop playing.

Thanks very much.
The smaller the amount of ping, the less you lag. For example, the host has 0 ping. Usually 3 bars are not too bad of hosts and 80 ping isn't that bad either. Judging from COD2, the games that were at least under 130 were good.
I'm sure the PC guys could tell you a bit more information though.
So their is a difference between 3 and 4 bars? Most people are on 3 bars and the host and a few others are on 4 bars, usually. So I guess no one is really disadvantaged by it, not much anyway.
I have really good connection on MW2 nearly 4 bars all the time. This is somewhat odd becasue in COD4 I always had 3 and rarely 4. However, now that I consistently have 4 bars, if i ever have less than that, even 3, I have to leave the game because it feels so laggy. It was the same in COD4, if i didnt play with 3 bars it felt really wierd, **its all about getting used to your connecton**. I play great with 4 bars on MW2 and I play great with 3 bars on COD4 anything else and i just dont do as well.

in COD4 and WAW, the difference between 3 and 4 was huge. not so much on MW2. a MW2 yellow is like COD4 green. if you have a green connection in MW2, you pretty much dont have to lead your shots like you did in COD4.
4 = Perf3ct, normally only if I host
3 = Good, good connection from other host
2 = Poor, poor connection from host and can be very frustrating
1 = WTF?, leads to switching host so normally the game ends.
Just from personal experience

4 bars is really good. Understand the host will NEVER lag. So if you get in a firefight with the host, chances are you will lose... even if you have 4 bars as well.
3 bars is playable. Most other people will have 3 bars, so your connection is up to par with theres.
2 bars is unplayable in most games. 1 bar.... well thats obvious.
Your ping is pretty low (Which is good). Your Down/Up are not that great, but tolerable. You should be fine. 3 bars is good. You are not putting yourself at that big a disadvantage.
Lag is the biggest obstacle in FPS like MW2. You will always have it somewhat.

It all depends on others connections also. In MW2 I can play on a 2 bar connection fine without a bit of lag at all, same with a three and four.
In COD4 if I didn't have a 3 bar connection I couldn't play since the lag was terrible and I could never hit anyone.
MW2 has better connections especially the lower ranger then COD4 did. Some 2 bar connections suck but are manageable, I've had some really great games and was tops in leaderboards a few times on a 2 bar, and I normally announce it to the rest of the people. Or I can't buy a kill and end up last, and then I announce it was my 2 bar connections fault.
Never blame the player, always blame the connection.
ALWAYS either a 1 or 2 bar connection. I always jump when I see that rare 3 bar connection and try to stay in that match no matter how bad I'm losing just cause it's so rare. I know it sounds pathetic
You are a braver man than me, and a much better knifer. I dont want them so close they can read my name on the label sticking out from my high performance fall camo'd combat boxer shorts
