I have the cheap ATI 3200 graphics card and absolutely hate it. Everyone knows the NVidia is a whole lot better. I recommend the 9800 GT or GTS if your are hooking your computer up to your big screen simply because those are the only decent cards with HDMI connections. However, theres little difference between these cards with HDMI connections and the DVI connections because the sound is not transferred through the HDMI connection anyway. The company really needs to work on that. Thats my only problem with these cards. ATI and AMD sucks compared to NVidia and Intel. Over clocking is what its about and NVidia and Intel know how to build systems around that.

For me it depends on what to use them for, and how much you're gonna pay for it. At the moment I'am using a Nvida-card.

at this current time ati is the better buy, their 4850 and 4870 lineup is better price to performance ratio then what nvidia has, so if you want a card now get a 4850 or a 4870, its hard to say who is "better" as a company since there is direct competition, i can only answer what is better based on the present

I choose nVidia because they stole 3Dfx's technology. Way to go nVidia patent your competiors stuff and slap them with a lawsuit. Thus, the G-Force was born... dirty pirates (nVidia)...

I use a nvidia 8800 gt i play everything on high and have no problems i was thinking of upgrading to the GTX 260/280 but i will wait awhile till they are down in price (below £200) i like the fact that nvidia use the same drivers for there cards nice and simple.
However the ATI 4 series fill the gap left by nvidia for price they are a great card at a fair price the next few months will tell which direction to go ATI or Nvidia

ATI, I have tried a Nividia card that was outsourced to BFG...and I couldn't be happier with ATI. They have good products.
