Hello,

I am fairly new to this game. I started playing it during the last Friday night / Saturday morning. Got through all the single player mode. Then I started during last weekend, playing multiplayer mode.

I found the game interesting with all the ranks and weapons variety. But, I don't care about the ranks/colors and all the "showing off" e-peen about it. I jumped from weapon to weapon and took me a while to understand the differences between them and especially the Perks. Ofcourse, I was being slaughtered in the game, everytime I killed someone was a moment of joy.

After understanding the basics of the game and doing 5 different setups to fill the spaces I tried to start knowing the maps and how the people play this game.

Before someone askes, by classes are:

- AK-47 with silencer, 3x grenades, UAV jammer and steady aim
- G3 with RDS, 3x grenades, Overkill (P90) and steady aim
- M40, 3x grenades, Overkill (G36) and steady aim
- M60, 3x grenades, Stopping Power and steady aim
- M1014, grip, Stopping Power and steady aim

So, I see some really annoying things in this game that are killing me the joy of playing it.

First the choppers and bombers are annoying, I get killed loads of time by them, ye I check the map if isn't hardcore or try to get indoors. I see it as an unfair advantage of someone that is already doing very well, doesn't favor at all the worst players. But, I understand that the people that are easily surpreended by the graphics or show of the thing, likes it.

Secondly, there are stupid perks that make no sense and are unrealistic. The most annoying are last stand and martyrdom. Isn't realistic that someone that is one shoted in the head, drops a grenade without the safe trigger (dunno the name in english) and ofcourse... it explodes. Last stand is annoying, but barable if we are at high range or we smoke him with a crap load of ammo, at least I do if I am close, maybe he will have last stand. Juggernaut is also stupid, since... some may say he as a better armor or wathever... but your face is still your face... isn't it? Or you have an iron face?

Thirdly, spawn killing, bunny hopping, campers and cheaters. I found that there are loads of these and they are almost all the COD4 population. I die... spawn again... die again... this totally ruins the fun. With who are you going to play if people decide to change game, because they are fed up of this crap? And... where in a war we see someone jumping around like a rabbit and shooting at you? Stupid... Also, those campers that don't move a muscle and have no reason to stand there, besides the fact that they don't want to move, just staying there waiting for you and aiming to that door that you need to pass to get the flag or wathever, why are this people playing a game like this, where is the fun in it? Seriously... you are spoiling your life, looking at a pixels door/window. Oh... the cheaters... I found out that there is a really huge amount of strange things going on during a game in COD4. X-Ray vision people (no radar) especially, people that appear I don't know how the hell on some strange place in a split of seconds... among other things... does even Punkbuster works? Because, almost everytime I log to a server... there's at least one of them. Isn't enough sometimes the unlucky lag spikes, getting out of ammo with an enemy on our face or the players that only kill using map glitches? ...

So, ye... I am a noob and I am total new to this game, also I suck. But, this things don't help me keeping the interest in the game. I play the most with the G3, by the simple reason that I was in the army and was my weapon, years ago... I see that the majority plays with an assault automatic weapon (AK-47 or Carbine) or even with a sub machine gun. Isn't very easy to kill a more experienced player with an automatic weapon when we have a single shot rifle in our hands. But, I must tell you that the G3 is really equal to the real one, except we don't feel the kick or the iron smell of a shot, or even half of the adrenaline when we shot. But, it's pretty good for a game.


I am strugling a bit with the game, though... besides some annoying/rude players and the choppers/bombers, it's a pretty nice game and I intended to play it during the summer while I am on vacations, but I am still wondering if I should, if this is going to get any better than this.

Few days ago, I was in one of my first SAD games, the other team puts the bomb and in a split of the second I listen the guy say "you are the last one". I think... "crap" or something similar. I am totally new to this, I rush to the bomb and I have no idea how to disarm it, I press every single button on my keyboard and the bomb explodes on my face. You can imagine what happened next, I got flamed to the infinite and that's not nice. I said before that in the chat that I was new to the game and I didn't knew how to do that, the answer I got was "STFU and PLAY", that's nice...

Sorry, but I guess I wrote too much and can't write more. I just felt sharing what was going on my mind during my first days during COD4.

I saw some great players aswel and that impressed me a lot. But, when they start chatting saying how good they are... I completely loose the interest on them.

I must say that I saw 2 players until now that were really good and I am grateful one was on my team during the night, forgot their names.

They didn't started bragging how good they are and that impressed me even more. One of them was a seriously sneaky bastard with a good acuracy shot with his AK-47, I think it was that one. Not that kind of player that spend one full round of shots to kill someone... nahh... that's me. The other one and that was on my team, was playing with a sniper on hardcore mode. And... man.... he could shot!! Also, moved very fast and never stayed on the same position. He was very quick on the shot and sure knew all the corners of the maps, I watched him for a little while to see how he played.

I sure can't shoot like that, but for sure that everytime I kill someone... I meant to kill him and wasn't a lucky shot. I like the G3... but... I am a bit screwed with my low skill and for being a newbie in this game, among a huge amount of fully automatic weapons players.

Oh well... I think I am going to play for a little longer... and try to not die so much. I sure get killed a lot, by nades... by snipers... by face-to-face encounters that I don't understand why I shoot first and on the chest/head but I still die... and especially by choopers.

Oh, ye... this is the name I use on the servers and I just join a random server... I wish I could find a server of people with the same skill as me... to have a bit of fun... but I guess that's hard. I am LvL41 Colonel or something like that atm.

Welcome to the game Ant. You will run into a lot of rude players while online, I play without a mic myself... Also good players won't brag that they are good, the biggest braggers are the ones who probably suck the most, don't let them get to you. If you want to get better just keep playing and it will come. You can also hook up with a few players on this site, they can help you out and check the different threads for more advice. Feel free to ask if you have any other questions.

i advice you keep playing the game, you'll get better with every second you play it. You know what helps to get better, when you see someone that you think is good, go into spectate mode. Follow what he does for a while. I know, you won't be able to play, but you'll learn techniques and spots that you've never seen or tought that were possible before.

You're setups are pretty good in my eyes, but i think you don't have all the perks yet, right?
What I would advice is dropping the overkill, it uses the perk two slot for no good reason. Just get used to picking up weapons of the floor. It's something you have to get used to, but then you can use the perk 2 with UAVjammer or sleight of hand.

The bunnyhopping, camping, spawnkilling, ... Is something I guess you'll have to learn to live with. Braggers, yeah I know some and to be honest they play with little to no skill. Ok, granted they have high scores but they just run around like a chicken without a head spraying the P90 and tossing nades without looking. So just ignore them. I know some guys who are really good, really really good. And they rarely say anything about it, what they will do is go like "boom headshot" or "pwned" or stuff like that but it's always true and they won't go bragging about there killstreaks and how everyone else sucks; they even gave advice to people after they got killed and watched the killcam. So that's constructive.

Now the cheating. I've been playing for a couple of months now and I can honestly say that I've only seen two true cheaters. They were aimbots, so pretty obvious. The playstyle of a good player that knows every inch of the map and every part of his weapon (Recoil, reload time, accuracy,...) can very much resemble a cheaters, looks like he allready knows you are there even tough he can't see you. If you keep playing you will come to see what I mean, you'll do it yourself. Me for example, I have developed some kind of sxth sence ; so it could look like I'm scoping in on someone before i can see them, but the thing is i don't know they are there, I just assume someone could be there. Like Smoke said, practice practice practice.

So you actually got to fire the G3? How does that feel? Is it a fully automatic? Please enlighten me.
I've given it a try before I started my tour of sniping Have to say it resembles a litle sniper (in the game i mean) but the M40A3 is my wife, my lover and my mistress. I adore her! Best sniper in the game imo.


Are you on PC? Let me know, then I'll PM you some IPs for servers where they have great admins, so no s*** over the chat, no bunnyhoping like a doped up easterbunny (they do allow tactical jumping. No camping no spawnkilling. So they are good servers. be carefull when you enter the ARMORY M40 & R700 only server because there you will see that some guys have made an art of using those weapons. (I'm looking at you H!TMAN, JEP JEP, ZANDRA, .... sorry if i forgot someone!) They pull headshots of in a split second. They go 50-10 sometimes. *falls on one knee to bow for the masters*

Anyway have fun with the game and don't get discouraged, you die alot when you start.

I've been practicing a lot. I am on my 6th day of the game and with almost 2 days played and lvl45, nearly 46 (major general). I already did a lot of the challenges, which helps a lot on the leveling. I think I am starting to put in a small number my weapons of choice, ofcourse the G3 is already chosen. Also, already did my introduction, thanks for remembering me that.

Thanks. I removed the players sound on my game, just in case. I tend to not bother much with the rude people, but it's still not nice. Sometimes I give an answer like "no hablo ingles", among others. Well, I have no friends in this game yet, been playing alone in random server. I am trying to solve my doubts while playing, they still come... and are loads... right now my biggest issue is that I still don't know the maps very well, they are so many!

Sometimes I watch people in spectator mode, it helps. I know what you mean about the "6th sense", someday I hope to know the maps and how people do their moves so well.

Yep, I did fired the G3, quite a few times. I had one of my own. It goes fully automatic or semi-automatic. In the game you can only use it as semi-automatic and that's how people usually fire the G3. The recoil as automatic is quite big, I have no experience with other weapons, so I can't compare much. I can say that, as semi-automatic, the G3 has an almost perfect acuracy and that's what I most loved on the weapon, it is really good and the range too. Indeed, it is almost like a mini-sniper, I remember doing 100 meters shots and being capable of shooting exactly on the midle of the target. The acuracy is really nice and you barely notice the recoil. Ofcourse... it has recoil, but if you know how to shoot a rifle... you can handle it so well! It is very simple, the ammo will go exactly to were you are aiming and it goes far without changing the route.

Mine was an old weapon (1967 if I remember correctly), so the chance to jam was big, but I had it always very clean and oiled. I remember once, one of us had his G3 jammed while shooting and it was a mess. Or even funny things... like the shell of one entered to the inside of his T-shirt on the shooting practice, maaann... that guy could jump!! You see.. the shells when they get out of the weapon... they are really hot! Anyway, it is a really reliable and very acurate weapon.
