at least in cod4, there werent people running around with OMA and the noobtube.
Yeah but theres always something to counter everything else. Have you tried putting blast shield on? They have to be very accurate to kill you with the noob tube if you have it on, it totally nerfs it.
In MW2 you have challenges to unlock and more people use it. Its almost acceptable to use it now. There is no incentive to use it in COD4. When you kill someone with a grenade launcher it doesn't count for the weapons overall kills either.
You don't have to be that accurate.I'll go out on a limb and say COD4 skilltube and MW2 noobtube. Every FFA match has atleast 5 people with grenade launchers. I never tried the blast shield but maybe I'll start. I rarely play MW2 though. I played for 3 hours today and got really tired of the glitches. The knifers have gotten way out of control.
In my opinion, Call of Duty 4 had far less problems than Modern Warfare 2. The only things that really bothered me about CoD4 was Martyrdom and the Grenade Launcher. I didn't mind Juggernaut that much since they still dropped pretty fast. Camping was no big deal, weapons were balanced, and killstreaks weren't nearly as ridiculous. Map design was top notch as well. I played this game, had fun, and rarely got angry.
With Modern Warfare 2, I get annoyed with something nearly every game I play. Its either the Rambo knifer who survived my bullets with his untouchable 10 foot Halo lunge, or its the guy who's just as confused as I am because he spawned right behind me. Lets not forget the fellow wielding Akimbo 1887's who just nailed me from 10 yards away, or the guy who borrowed Dora's magical backpack that refills all his ammo, special grenades, equipment, and Grenade Launchers in less time than an LMG user reloads his gun.
Jokes aside, the Perks, Killstreaks, map design, and lack of overall balance destroy the game's playability. Assault rifles outclass every other weapon type by far too big of a margin. Perks like One Man Army (and to a much lesser degree, Scavenger) are game breaking due to their affects. Commando's invincible knife lunge paired with a Tactical Knife is plain ridiculous. Heck, I feel like I've been killed more by knives than by actual bullets (apparently, swiping the knife at the air near a person now inflicts sufficient damage to kill them).
The map design in this game isn't good at all compared to CoD4. They lean too much into one side of the combat spectrum (Derail = Snipe/long range fest, Favela = Corner camping, etc.) rather than letting it mix them all. The only maps that I feel totally comfortable playing on are Terminal, Scrapyard, and to a much lesser degree, Invasion and Karachi (since they feel pretty balanced as opposed to one-sided level design). The map design in this game also seems to promote camping a lot more. Sure, there may have been some good camping spots in CoD4, but now, people have a reason to camp.
Which brings me to the ridiculously overpowered killstreak rewards. These basically play the game for you. When you see somebody with a 26 killstreak, no longer do you recognize it as a great accomplishment; that 26 killstreak, for all we know, could have been a 4 killstreak that was buffed by the killstreak rewards (Predator, Harrier, Chopper Gunner). The game, for many people, revolves around the killstreaks. In CoD4, the killstreak rewards were nice to have, but they weren't as overpowered as they are in this game. In no way did I feel that the killstreaks "played the game for you" in CoD4.
Summing up many cons into one; camp promoting killstreaks with camp encouraging maps with camp simplifying equipment and perks is basically why I believe camping is a problem in this game.
Spawns are more annoying than ever in this game. I never feel "safe" while playing. Now I don't want some person to quote me saying "You can't be safe in war." Thats not what I mean, so don't nitpick. What I'm trying to say is that in CoD4, when my team had an area covered, I didn't have to worry about a guy spawning behind me. I had a feeling of reassurance when we had an area covered. In this game, I've seen stupid spawns scores of times (and sometimes its me who gets the unfair advantage; I once spawned on Rust with 4 guys having their back turned). In this game, I never feel that we have an area covered, which is a combination of bad map design [mentioned above] and bad spawns.
Overall, Modern Warfare 2 is a very inconsistent experience; right after scoring, say, a 30-4 game the tides may turn and make you go negative. While I may not always score 30-4 games on CoD4, my scores are far more consistent from game to game than here. Once you become a good player in CoD4, a veteran, you can outplay everyone with less skill and experience than you [thus providing a consistent experience]. In Modern Warfare 2, while skill still plays a role, its a lot less than its predecessor; it seems far more "noob friendly" for the lack of a better term. The strongest weapons are the easiest weapons to use [Assault Rifles] with no recoil and ridiculous range (ACR, Scar-H, M4). You don't need to "get used to weapons" because the best weapons take no skill to use.

COD 4 was such a good game because back in 2007, the call of duty series was a world war II shooter, and Infinity Ward was undertaking a monumental task of bringing the COD series to the modern age. Infinity Ward had to prove themselves to the COD FPS community when they made COD 4. This time around, they knew that because of the success of COD 4, they would make millions of dollars off of MW 2 even if the game was total trash (which it is). It was their ticket to make money, so instead of proving that they can make a great sequel to a fantastic game, they got greedy and lazy. And it really does show. Balance in this game had just went out the damn window. Nobody had thought about what would happen if you give people ridiculous killstreaks, the ability to run 3 times as fast as the average player and have a faster knife, the ability to pick and choose where you spawn. It is very clear that they did not even think for one second about the problems that these things would cause for the game. How stupid do you have to be to not realize that tactical insertion is god's gift to the boosting world?

I completely agree with you. Every game I have played in MW 2 had something that made me want to bash my controller into the ground. LOL @ dora's magical backpack!

The knife is supposed to be a 1 shot kill that is extremely difficult to pull off. It shouldn't turn you into master chief using speed hacks. The day I broke my MW 2 disc in half, I was playing on Underpass, with 5 people on the opposite team using knives with commando. That tipped me over the top.

The above two paragraphs certainly tie into each other. The maps are built for EXTREMELY defensive play. Perfect example is a map like rundown. Its a god damn camp fest. I completely agree with hutch (commentary producer on youtube) when he says that he would rather have his eyes gouged than play on that map. The camper mentality that is iniflicted upon the player is further enhanced by the fact that killstreaking is currently the most important aspect of MW 2. It was an important factor in COD 4 / W@W, but it was certainly not THE MOST IMPORTANT factor. Why is this? Well you said it...the killstreaks play the game for you.
While many defenders of MW 2 state that it is extremely easy to take down the killstreaks, there is one fundimental problem with their logic. If this game is based on killstreaking, why would a player want to give up their streak to swap out to a stinger class and attempt to shoot down the air support? Forcing the player to use stinger as a secondary is ultimately gimping that player. What if you're a sniper? You cannot have a stinger for a secondary because you rely on a secondary for close quartered combat. What if you like to use the machine pistols, shotguns, or tac knife? You cannot have a stinger secondary. If you are so annoyed by that chopper gunner destroying your team, you need to give up your current killstreak and take it out. Destroying air support in this game is all based on luck. Sometimes you have players with stingers, and sometimes you don't. Sometimes, when you get your harriers they get destroyed without yielding a single kill. Other times, the enemy team gets a harrier and nobody on your team does a damn thing about it. Asking your team to do something about it is social suicide. You get flamed into the ground! Why? BECAUSE NOBODY ELSE WANTS TO GIVE UP THEIR CURRENT STREAK JUST TO SHOOT DOWN A DAMN PLANE. MW 2 is not a team game. Battlefield bad company 2 is a team game. YOU NEVER RELY ON YOUR TEAM MATES in COD.
Simple fix to the problem would be to add a tertiary weapon slot specifically for stingers and javelins, but of course it will never happen.

It happened at the spur of the moment. I had just gotten beat hard by 5 carepackage glitching knifers, and after screaming the F word out loud for a good 30 seconds, I proceeded to rip the disc out of the xbox and break it in half. I needed to do something to satisfy my rage over what just happened. This was the first thing that came to mind.
It was the ultimate rage quit. It was probably the only way I'd ever get rid of that game. If I had let myself cool off, I'd be playing mw 2 again all over.
I don't regret my decision at all. Sure, I could've gotten a game or two out of this... but god did it feel good to rip this horrible piece of trash to shred in a blinding rage. I NEVER want to see or play this game ever again.
Holy **** dude! That definitely does qualify as the ultimate rage quit. I've gotten very mad at games before too, but I don't think I could ever do something like that. The thing about breaking your stuff in anger is, your anger will eventually subside, but your stuff will still be broken. If breaking the disc gave you a feeling of satisfaction, then more power to you. Me personally, I'd get more satisfaction out of trading it in on another game...

nemefist, thats why its important to get a full party of friends before you play. it makes the game far more enjoyable because you have 5 friends to talk to, and friends are generally better than the randoms you'll find that suck. plus, you can set-up an anti-air support guy like we do. it's hard to lose when you have a full team of 6 with a plan vs 6 randoms. i agree this game can be EXTREMELY IRRITATING when playing alone, but I find playing with friends makes it worth it
I love COD4... still play it... refuse to buy MW2 because of the half @$$ effort they made in making it PC Compatible... Hmmm, lets just port the game from the console version and oh yeah REMOVE DEDICATED SERVERS That will fix it all...
Wrong. I am actually looking forward to treyarchs next game because IW screwed over PC gamers so terribly. As far as balance in the game goes... It is actually very balanced. You can do to your enemy exactly what he/she is doing to you and more often than not, most things have a counter. I have played MW2 on both 360 and PS3 versions and I really enjoy it. The thing with the PC version is no dedicated servers which allows all of the hackers/cheaters. AND because it is a port, you cannot select the server you want to play at!!!
IF they put host migration in cod 4 (that worked 100% of the time, whether they disconnect or leave) I would much rather play it, but the constant host has left game gets rly REALLY irritating
