For a long while, my CoD4 MP worked fine. I achieved rank 55 and got all gold weapon skins (except the mini uzi =/ -lol) with absolutely no problems concerning my connection.

Just before the 1.6 patch came out, my CoD4 started acting up. I enter ANY server or ANY game and after 5 minutes of play, I ALWAYS get the connection lost icon in the center of my screen.

To try to fix this, I have uninstalled and re-installed the game and patched, uninstalled, deleted old registries and then re-installed and patched, changed all settings to their lowest in game, turned my internet security off (Kaspersky), Ive manually patched punkbuster and have tested my Internet connection on other games online.

I can play all my other games online fine. Warhammer Online, Guild Wars, BF2, BF2142, CoD2, CoD1, CoD UO, QW: Enemy Territory, Unreal Tournament 3 and finally Dawn Of War.

If I can play all these games, some of which I think, are more demanding on my connection and PC than CoD4 is...Then why wont my CoD4 work?

In the brief 5 mins I can play, my connection is absolutely fine.

Any help you guys can give would be greatly appreciated, I havent been able to play in so long! =/

I Forgot to mention; I have Windows XP, Kaspersky Internet Security(Which didnt cause any problems with my CoD4 when it worked), Wireless with a Belkin Router (Although I cannot stress enough at how the router hasnt changed since before or after the problem).

I also realise that my name is showing up as my email address...Damn my google toolbar getting auto-fill optopns wrong.

I am in the same boat as Comewhat_ever_may. However, my MP will play randomly before crashing. My pc crashes to a dead standstill, and you must reboot the system by holding in the power button for 5 seconds. This then displays that cod4 was shutdown wrong, and asks if you want to start it in "safemode", and Ive tried safemode and normal mode....and still it will crash eventually. Sometimes its 5 mins, sometimes it will go for 3 or 4 map completions before crashing.
I have also done everything the above user tried...driver updates for everything including windows, motherboards, graphics, sound cards, antivirus, spybot, punkbuster, and COD4. Uninstalled, re-installed at least 4 seperate times now...while applying updates.
Weird thing is that nothing changed before I started noticing this on Nov. 7th or 8th of 2008. Ive been fighting it since then. I did not update or change anything including deleting any other programs. My cod4 played excellent for several months with not even one crash or disconnect. Im talking at least 30 hrs of game play per week for the past 3 months...then whammy. I never had cod4 updated originally...I just played from cd original version. When the crashes started I updated with patches which didnt help either.

Thoughts anyone??

I have a similar problem...when ever i join a server, i keep getting the "Connection Interrupted" text on my screen, then it goes away for about 10 seconds then its back...until i get disconnected from the server. EVERY other game i have works fine, even world at war :/. Please help.

Update on my problems.

Finally found issues with my pc. It was an over-heating video card. Anytime the video card got temps of 89 degrees, it would shut down the pc. Thanks to Nvida and their life time warranty, I now have another new 8800 gt card replaced for FREE. I needed to update my pc, but Im running two 8800s in sli mode...so Ive had no problems running any software as of yet.
