i have been unable to play COD 4 for the last few weeks as my ping has shot way up can anyone help me,i am getting a ping of 400 when i used to get a ping of 150 and this is on all my fav servers.I did a check for packet loss,there is none.Overall speed is still like before,eg youtube videos are working as normal.I just dont know what to do,i am on patch 1.7 and i am sure it is not a patch issue as i played on 1.7 for some time without any issues,also i tried pinging a no patch server,still had the same problem..any ideas what should i do??

Maybe your computer is downloading something in the background... If you share a wireless connection with someone thats surfing the web, that might be the problem... If you're connected to a non-secured network, someone could be leeching off your internet and downloading/surfing the web causing your ping to skyrocket... Otherwise... I don't know what else to tell ya... Good luck on resolving this issue.

Thanks for your reply but no downloading is taking place,i am not on wireless...but i want to tell you one thing that i was able to get a few games at 3 in the morning today,the ping was very normal,does that signify anything??

Maybe it's just the servers that you're trying to connect to that are giving you this problem... Then again, I wouldn't know because I am computer illiterate... I would have an easier time assessing your problem if I were actually there in person... Once again, good luck on resolving this issue.
