Hello all.

I've been getting into COD4 online lately, been unlocking some weapons and getting a whole load of achivements.

Then one day I log in and my profile is gone without a trace, in both single and multipaler. Im back at rank 1, graphics and control settings back to default, create a class is greyed out.

What the hell happened? I didnt change anything, didnt install any mods, didnt alter any files, didnt install any new patches. The profiles simply vanished with no apparent reason.

Knowing this can happen is kinda a turn off for the multiplayer, whats the point in unlocking all this stuff if it can just evapourate at any given moment.

Anyone got any information on this issue? I would be grateful to hear it.

Sounds strange, I can't offer you a fix but a little advice in future - back up your files. It may be a pain in the arse but it's a guaranteed way that you won't lose anything.

The crap part about COD4 for PC is that the multiplayer stats/info get stored on your computer and not over the internet like on PS3 and Xbox 360.

I hope someone is able to help with this and that you haven't been put off multiplayer too much as it really is the best feature of the game.

I had this happening too once, it suc*s. Now I always have a backup ready on an external HDD. Just go to the profile folder in your COD4 folder, copy the MPdata file and paste it in a selfmade backupfolder. If it happens again, then you can just paste the backup into the COD4 folder

Good thing about that is that you CAN make a backup off it.
