It is slightly understandable why they do this on Hardcore, if you think about it. Hardcore is supposed to be the realistic mode, ultra-real or whatever, and in real life, when people are talking in their headsets, you don't get a little icon to display at the left of your vision telling you who's talking. You gotta recognize who it is. Which you can't really for people you don't know, but I can usually tell when one of my buddies is talking, since I play with them enough.
