Yes I have Avast as an anti-virus and i launch CoD4 MP and Avast tells me punkbuster is a virus, therefore i can't play(win32\system32 root, not sure this is very stange because i have able to play perfectly before and randomly today actually, it occured, can anyone help. thx

Same thing has happened to me, it just started happening today.

I get this after avast tells me one of the punkbuster files is malware.

I use avg 8.0 free never had any probs or virus's

same thing is happening to me. I ended up just disabling Avast just before I started up COD4.

Right Click on Avast and hit stop on-access protection.

That's my quick fix for now. I did notice that Avast updated about an hour ago, but haven't checked to see if the update fixed the PB issue.

Looks like that last update fixed the issue. Just tried out the game and go t no alert from Avast. Kudos's to them for fixing the problem so fast.
