According to my playstation 3, firmware 2.41 has been released and you're now able to update. Despite rumors people having to wait til mid this week, it was released July 07, late late late at night! If you haven't gotten it yet, we encourage you 2.40 and prior to 2.40'ers to update now. Get away from the bugs!
I'm going to give it a day or two (possibly three ) to make sure all the bugs have been worked out. I'm not risking my PS3 for an update.

If there was nothing wrong with yours, then it should probably be fine. I'm imaging the 2.41 specifically fixes the flaws that were frying or causing random errors in the 2.4 update. If yours is fine, you probably don't have to worry about anything as this update isn't really changing anything, just fixing previous flaws which you aren't getting anyway (lucky bugger )
However, I would still wait a few days (like I am with mine) to make sure new errors don't start surfacing cause of this update.

I've read about 40's and 60's being affected too. So I can't say for certain what system was more at risk, but either way, I won't risk mine (80 GB)
