Default Settings in PS3 for faster connectivity?

I was wondering if there were certain settings or ports that should be opened on the PS3 to ensure that you are getting your fastest connection. I have DSL that is pretty fast and my router is very close to my PS3 (using wireless connection) I tried to look this up under a search, however it is a pain in the neck due to it not allowing you to use words with less than 4 letters!

Thanks!

I'm lost as to what exactly you are asking, if you are indeed trying to find out some settings that would best suit your connection then it would be the PC side to make connection faster not the PS3.
There are indeed settings available for the Router to give a better connection but as to what that is etc isbeyond me.

Detail your exact request, be more specific in your questioning, I will try my best to help.

Kind regards.

^No you pretty much gotta do it on your router's website. When you register your router on the company's website and you change the router settings and stuff. I got someone that worked for my router's company to do it my controlling my computer, all the way from malaysia.

On a PC the "WINS" & "MTU" parameters properly set can speed you up dramatically. Using Dr TCP (freeware) or similar. On the PS3 - the only thing I can sugggest is not connecting wireless. (increases lag) Some things are still better off "WIRED"!! Once wired, the router MTU set@ 1500 is usually the recommended setting. Use default settings on the PS3, no fancy performance can be set with them. Turn off other PC's or Local LAN devices while playing the PS3 (i even turn off printers), every ounce of bandwidth helps. Resetting the modem and router is a routine I have before playing. Hope this helps.

For online gaming the best thing to do is have a wired connection, as you have a direct connection instead of one in the air. The only way you don't do this is if your router and PS3 are no where near each other, or you simply don't have a long enough Ethernet cord.
