Default Game Crash

Game is crashing anywhere from 10mins to an hour into playing. The crash is different every time. Sometime it restarts, sometimes the game quits back to desktop, and sometimes it gives me a blue screen. Tried changing to older drivers, and messing around with some other motherboard settings with no success. Any ideas?

Windows Vista SP1 32bit
BFG 8800GT OC
X2 6000+
2gb Corsair Memory
Asus M2N

here is a simple solution that will solve your problem. You could buy a console!

I have yet to see anything like this when playing on the 360 and haven't heard of anything like this with the PS3.

good day

great help, thanks for the stupid comment. Except if you read the forums, there are people having problems with the consoles as well.

Haha no problems with console games you're hilarious. Are you really saying consoles don't have issues? Please tell me you aren't that big of a fanboy.
Sorry lost my train of thought.
Have you tried checking the temperature on your GPU/CPU? You can do this by downloading nvidia monitor view/ ntune. (Nvidia has some issue with inconsistency, sorry.) Thia can be found on this site NVIDIA nTune
If you're card or CPU is running hot then it may be closing down anything causes extra stress to prevent damge to components.
Also instead of downgrading drivers, have you updated them all? Of course a dxdiag could help find these problems but I don't think that'll be needed.
Is this blue screen blank or is this the "blue screen of death" when windows informs you that it is going to be dumping your memory?
Also are you overclocking any of your components? This can cause instability even when done carefully and is something to be looked into.
Get back to me if you find a solution/need more advice.

Oh yeah and if you do find that your GPU/CPU are running hot (GPU's should run no hotter than 80c, anything much higher is likely to cause damage, and CPU temperatures can vary depending on model and make.) you can try to open your case and clean out any dust that could be clogging heat sinks and reducing airflow from fans to heatsinks.

Well I've pretty much tried everything you've already said as well. I've tried the old drivers, the new drivers, the drivers that came with the disk. I don't think its overheating because it's a brand new graphics card, only a week old along with the rest of the system, and I cleaned out the whole case along with it. Plus I'm playing other taxing video games with no issues at all. I'll try taking a look at it tho, could be a defective card. It is blue screen of death when that does happen. I'm usually pretty good at troubleshooting this stuff but this one has me stumped. Weird thing is I played it last night for 3-4 hours straight with no issues at all. I haven't found anybody else with the same problem either so that has made it more difficult. The blue screen message tells me to check shadowing or cashing in the bios, neither of which I can find. I've always had issues with those setting before on my Asus boards, but I can't seem to find where to change those settings in this new bios. I'm going to try and look into that some more while simultaneously hoping that Nvidia or COD4 gets an update that fixes my problem. Thanks for the help though, I'll definitely try the nTune.

What does the bluescreen say? The only thing I can think of, hardware-wise, that causes RANDOM crashes would be a faulty memory stick.
