I know that this has been an issue in the past, but it has recently occured to me almost two months after it originally happened. Every time I try to "Join Game" online it says Downloading Game Settings... I've played online for about 18hrs after I already had all the updates for PS3 and CoD4 installed, but the error just recently happened. Also, if I try to go into Private Game, my game freezes. Everything else works fine.

I also just reset my PS3 and that didnt work either.

Were there any recent updates for the ps3? They probably broke it again :P

Was it possible they were updating the servers at the time? Thats all I can think of.

its not only me... but people who had played with out lag for a time suddenly stops working on them... i don't really know what to think and i have heard many things and am not to sure what to think.... i am playing on the PS3... it seems as tho i can log onto the server, it tells me what rank i am... it even passes the first "download game settings"...

now when it worked it never did this at all, but when i press "find game" it says "downloading game settings" and never finishes. i press circle to back out and try the "private games"(tho i don't have any friends on there yet =p) it freezes and does not work at all. i have to actualy manualy turn off my system and then turn it back on. i even try to simply use the split screen, and now this does not work at all eather. i can get past the start... can get all the way to the part when its loading the match. but as it loads it gets so far, and stops loading and freezes... again i am forced to manualy turn off my system. i had downloaded "folding@home" last night thinking that i might help save some lives in the future =p but suddenly i can not play any games that has more then one human player...

to say the truth i don't think that has anything to do with the reason why my ps3 is not allowing me to play online with COD4... "folding@home" does't really seem like it would mess with any of the game's settings or what ever...

i know i talk alot and sorry if anyone is offended or what ever but this is my problem and i need some one to help me D= please please i am soooo addicted to this game x_x

some are saying that it is a lag problem... but why would it mess up the split screen moad? there has to be a big problem some where... if i need to give more info on the subject please some one say some thing...

i think its something that could only be fixed through an update from infinity ward.. but make sure your firewall and router settings are correct.. something might be blocked

well... i have played the game with no lag and very few glitches... a few rare cases of crashes but... nothing i was to worryied about. the game had worked fine for about 3 days of online play... then this problem came up out of no where... um... is it still possible that my router or some thing like that is at fault, if it worked fine for 3 days befor this happened? hehe if it needs an update then i can't wait till it comes out, if it does...

I have renamed your thread so users will know what platform the issue is with. Hopefully we can get this resolved.

Well I did the samething, with the same motive. It seems like a good cause so I downloaded folding too and all of a sudden I have COD4 issues. So I just read your post and deleted Folding and all of a sudden I go right into COD4 and I no longer get "Downloading Game Settings". So maybe Folding is causing the problem. Try deleting it and see if that helps

I've had the same problem when selecting "find game" it just has downloading game setting and three dots, its been like this for about a month now and I cantget online. Its fine with all my other games, I've tried resetting my router and changing the network settings. Even tried hardwiring the ethernet port but nothings working.
