Default Fix: Punkbuster Service Communication Failure

Hi everybody,
this is my first post here!
I used to always get kicked from servers due to Punkbuster and its "Service Communication Failure". Well I found a fix for that!

There are actually a few methods for that. The reason of this happening is that the service (PnkBstrA.exe and/or PnkBstrB.exe) is not started. You can easily fix this by:

-Go to your Control Panel and press Administrative Tools then press Services. (EDIT: If you are missing your Administrative Tools icon, start>run>%SystemRoot%\system32\services.msc /s) Once that is open, find PnkBstrA and PnkBstrB (PnkBstrB is not always there, well it wasn't for me so just don't worry about it.). Now right click them and go to Properties. Make sure the Startup type is Automatic. After you have done that, press the Start button and then press ok. You should no longer be getting the Punkbuster error.

OR

-Reinstalling punkbuster: America's Army: Special Forces - View topic - Read Me: PunkBuster Issues

Hope this helps!

Here is an example fix for COD4 I am running Vista and this workedHello I hope this helps
Click Start and navigate to you cod4 folder and look for the punk buster folder named PB default is C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\pb
After you are inside folder Look for PnkBstrB.exe Right click on that and select properties and go to the Compatibility tab and check the box at the bottom to run this program as administrator.
if you are still having problems make sure correct permissions are in place you can also try selecting the show setting for all users and give full permission to everyone on that account to see if that works.

Note if you select run as administrator on the cod4 multi icon you will get that annoying message saying do you allow this program you do not need to run the cod4 multi player short cut as admin if you allow punk buster to run as admin
Thanks
Jason

Hi all,
sorry for the late reply.
If you are missing your Administrative Tools icon from your Control Panel, follow these instructions to retrieve it:

--edit--
No, that method did not work for me. I found an easier way to get to the services if you are missing your Administrative Tools icon.

To get to services:
Go to Start>Run>%SystemRoot%\system32\services.msc /s
The Services window should pop up. I'll edit the first post.
