Ok where to start? Ok 1st the problem. Cod4 runs fine up until a level has finished loading either in single player or multiplayer. Once it tries to bring up my hud, it will freeze the image within about 2 seconds. the last sound heard will either finish or loop. If I ctrl alt del, then I can hear sounds showing that the game is running (i.e I hear myself getting shot in multiplayer ><).

When I try to re-enter the game the image will freeze within 5 seconds or so, and this repeats over and over till I close it.

I've updated my driver for audio gfx, dx. even flashed my bios. Still nothing. Compatability mode does nothing (actully tell a lie, running under xp makes it forget the dvd is in the tray >>), running as admin does nothing. And I have the same problem with several games, ever since I built this computer, the biggest difference on it is its windows 7. Well I've tried everything. Anyone want to help me? I'll post my dxdiag stuff now.

I cut out all the stuff that seemed irrelevent. Incase it helps, I'm running Windows 7 home premium 32 bit. the games that I've tried that also have this problem are : Counterstrike : source, Dark messiah, Team fortress 2, left for dead 2.

oh and the gfx card im using at the moment, the x800GT, I used it in my old pc, and cod ran fine on that.

Without looking at your dxdiag I can say that the x800GT is definitely your problem... CoD4 is a LOT more graphically intensive than the first CoD game. The x800GT is an old card that doesn't even come close to the minimum requirements I'm afraid. You need a new graphics card

Now, I'll have a look at your dxdiag and see if everything else is up to spec (if you're running Win7 it should be). Will update once I'm done

EDIT: CPU and RAM look up to par, you should be ok just getting a new GPU. Nvidia 9800GT is more than powerful enough for CoD4, and 5, and even Modern Warfare 2 (all at highest settings too). You can pick one up for less than £65
