hi at peak hours my ping goes really high like 400+. Is there any commands I could use to lower my ping. I don't care about hit registration i just want to get the lowest ping as possible.

would changeing any of these commands improve ping?

ps. i dont have any firewalls or anything. my ping is bad at peak hours due to a rubbish underground adsl RIM system that is installed in my area that gets congested.

also any suggestions on what perks to use when your ping is unplayable (350+).
I used fragx3 with martydom and sonic boom and was throwing 2 grenades randomly then running in kamikaze style with a cooked grenade in my hand then use matrydom as a bit of a overkill. i actually did ok.

First. Get a firewall.
Second. No that won't change a thing.

Look for a server closer to your location.

im playing in servers in my city but people think im connecting from the moon cas thats how bad my ping is. im not to confident with firewalls all they do is block all the stuff you want.

but surely i would of thought lowering things like cl_maxpackets sent to the server would make the game less bandwidth hungry and that way lower ping?.

Lowering cl_maxpackets CAN and WILL lower your ping, depending on your internet connection.

For promod servers I play, they recommend cl_maxpackets 100, but I can't play that because I get constant 999 due to my crappy connection, so I changed to cl_maxpackets 40 and now it's good.

Although, few months back I used to play and would get 70-100 ping which was plausible. But nowadays I get 120+ in every single game, which could be due to my modem, since we've had to replace our old one with our current one now, which seems to be a dinosaur.
Have a look at your modem/router, something could be restricting and capping your connection to servers.

ive tried loads of diffrent modems rang up my isp and found out why my ping is so crappy. its got to do with the exchange being congested.
