Default COD4 (PC) DirectX Error Singleplayer

When I Click New Game in Single Player
After Soap is introduced, the white loading bar doesnt move.
And Cod4 freezes.
I Get a Call of Duty Direct X Error tab on my task bar as well as I cant alt tab out of Cod4.
Its a green Cod4 Direct X Error. I Cant read it coz its flashing.

Ive tried to update latest VC drivers, latest DX, and sound card also.
Tried reinstalling the game and no luck.. Multiplayer works fine though.

System specs,
Pentium Dual Core 1.6 Ghz
2Gb DDR2 Ram
Intel GMA X3100 mobile
Intel 965 Chipset

Thanks

I have the same exact problem. Multiplayer works fine too, but single player crashes during the intro.

My specs are the same, except I have a Core 2 Duo T7700 processor (2.4 GHz).

Solved my problem
I Tried download a save game from a friend.
And It all works perfectly. For some reason only the first part of the prologue wont load.
Others work perfectly. Im playing it now.On ALL LOW Settings. Try using someones profile and load the second Mission the one on the ship. Works no prob. Just update DirectX

I have this too in both single and multi player. Keep getting directx error and then crash to BSOD referencing Nvidia driver problems. My pc is only three weeks old and has now SW other than what came with in. I have the latest video drivers and even tried loading a previous version of directx beta that some say worked. Even reloaded Vista clean install and then all the new drivers. I was having the same BSOD problems before I had game though and but now they only happen when I try to load the game and get the directx error. Dell is sending me a new HD and video card so hopefully.

I’m going to try again with the new hardware. There are hundreds of thousands playing COD4 the vast probably run fine. I am hoping that the new stuff will work. If anyone knows of definitive solutions, please chime in… I don't have any friends...that have this game for me to download...
