Icon5 Error message on startup (pc)

Please help, I don't know what is wrong and I really want to play COD4. Thanks in advance.

When I go to run COD4 it gives me this error message:
"Error during initialization:
Create2DTexture( $floatz, 800, 600, 0, 114 ) failed: 8876086c = Invalid call"

Another window called "Call of Duty 4 Console" gives me what I assume is a log:
----- Initializing Renderer ----

video card: Nvidia GeForce 7000m 751MB Turbocache
Video Card Driver Version (DirectX): 7.15.11.0154
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit
I have Directx 9.0c (I think thats the latest version)

Can You Run It? Powered by System Requirements Lab says my computer passes min. requirements

I have latest patch for COD4 (v1.5)
I tried reinstalling and no luck.

All help is much appreciated.

As i remember Vista doesnt use normal DX9.0c it uses something like DX9.0e which is a backward compatible version of DX for Vista.

Have you got the latest drivers for your graphics card ? Windows Update should update them for you.

Doing a quick search on Google people suggest using dxdiag which is the DX Diagnostics Tool, or one even reinstalled the game but to a different location and that worked for him...

I think he means DirectX 9.0d which is the latest version. If you video card supports it you can also use DirectX 10. (Vista Only)
