Ok, here's my set up: I have a router that runs a laptop, a desktop and my PS3. I'm paying for the highest service Windstream offers so my connection should be super awesome, and it is if only one of the three is using the internet. When I try to use the lappy and play COD at the same time my PS3 disconnects from the internet. There is no poor service, I never have one or two little red bars, it's all or nothing.

So my question is: Is the problem with my internet service, my router, or my PS3?

Ps. this has been going on for months. Please help me!

My guess would be its your router. maybe it cant handle giving two devices internet at the same time. When both of my sisters are on their laptops and im playing, I just start lagging. It never disconnects.

What type of router do you have? And when you say you cant connect to the internet on your PS3... is it troubles with the Game connecting to the Net, or is it logging into your PSN in general?

I have a Linksys wireless-g 2.4 ghz. And it has problems with both. Sometimes I'll be logged in to the psnetwork but the game won't work and sometimes it won't let me log in to anything. I just want to be at least a little sure it is the router before I spend nearly $100 on a new one.

I'd say it's the router. I have to play wirelesly and the router I have supports 2 PCs a laptop and my ps3. It works fine unless someone else gets on the net while I'm playing...then I have major lag issues where I can't move or I'm jumping around all over the place before suddenly teleporting over the other side of a map. I've never not been able to log in though...it has logged me off repeatedly on the rare occasions though. Wirelessly is not the best way to play.

Hmm... I have the Linksys WRT54G Wireless router.... and I have no problems with it. My laptop connects fine wirelessy. I have my comp and PS3 hardwired to it though.

Ive found that even if you were able to use more than 1 at a time, you would have Lag on your PS3. Regardless of speeds and routers used.

Try Disabling UpNp on your PS3 and there should be another option on the ps3 in Networking Media Server - Try disabling that.
They interfere with connections on PS3.

Okay dude, I really wanna take your advice, but I have no idea what you just said to me. Is Networking Media Server an option in the list of settings? And just what is an UpNp?

Yeah its a setting under Networking i think.

Im not sure what UpNp does but it does interefere with your connection.
When you go to set up a internet connection be it Wi-Fi or Connected via Ethernet cable , after a few steps a choice will op up UpNp : Enable or Disable.
Disable it and see if that works.

I had to disable mine. I couldnt even get passed the Downloading game settings screen with it enabled.
