Why does it always seem like I get killed before I get situated in a sniping spot to rack up some kills?

Like at one point, I was setting up camp with claymores and stuff and a guy ran up the stairs while I pulled a claymore out.

At another, I just capped this guy in the head on Broadcast and some guy with a Barrett counter-snipes me.

My advice. Go where no one goes. For example Backlot on the middle building get up there. Or Overgrown, on the bridge or on the farm house roof. Pipeline, back of the hill far back. If you need help with overgrown I can help you there. Just send me a friend request on XBL.

I agree with Koriatou, and if you continue to get owned, try UAV Jammer, as some people might see you on the radar and kill you. Or, try to be a mobile sniper, not a camp sniper.

This game is hard to be a true sniper. The KillCam ruins the whole point of sniping, to be effective you have to keep moving as HeadShot pointed out...

Ya......Camp sniping is really hard to do in this game. I also recomend snipe and move tactics. Its just hard to get from spot to spot.....with a sniper and pistol, Unless u have overkill. Then u wont have ur pistol.

I dont even try camping except for my first kill.

I use OVERKILL to choose a good secondary weapon then when the match starts, I find a spot, get a kill then switch weapons and go about my business as a non-sniper.

Maybe try it again when I respawn but camp sniping does not work in COD4 very well at all.

True, but whenever I find a nice spot no one will know about, either I can't really have a good view of the map, or someone sees me on red dot and then "snipes" me halfway across the map. Should I slow my movements and make it less obvious?

I'm using the M40 sniper, with Stopping Power for that one hit kill. However, I'm only equipping a pistol so that's okay. Otherwise I'd do overkill with P90.

wen u choose a place to snipe try and position yourself where theres little ways they can get you and a place where many ppl go through also try and pick unexpected spots

Not everyone likes hardcore. But on the bridge on Overgrown no one really see you there if you postion your self right with deadsilence you can move on the bridge even if someone is under it. I use this set up for Overgrown:

M40 w/ normal scope
Bando
Stopping power
Dead Silence.
Dead silence is for if someone comes under the bridge while your moving on it.
