hi all im new to the cod4 scene and havnt had the pleasure of ever updating one, is there a simple way to do this or does it mean uploading files and overwriting or can i just ad update somewhere on my startup line to do it? im use to working with cs:s servers but only had this server couple of month and wanting to update it to the 1.5 patch also wheres the best place for getting the updates from?

You can usually download the updates from icculus.org.. I'm sure there are instructions in the readme
