Windows 2000 Server issue
I set up a server and plan on running a Call of Duty 4 clan server, I am also using this machine as a Media Center and as a personal server system to store stuff and to provide resources accordingly.
I am a tad bit confused becuase when I try to install COD4 I get an error message telling me that Windows NT4.0, 95, 98, Millenium Edition, and 2000 are not supported however I read on the forums that people are running servers with Windows 2000. I know that it can't be because I am running Server and not the Workstation version (Windows 2000 Professional) because they use the same binaries to install the Operating System and a CD key plus some entries in config files on the CD itself determine wether or not to install Workstation or Server.
I do not own Windows Server 2003 or later so that is out of the question, the only server OS's I own are OS/2, Windows NT 3.51 Server, NT4.0, Solaris 10, Win2000 Server, and Win2000 Advanced Server. I do not want to switch operating systems because there is a lot of stuff on this server already.
Maybe is there a way to edit in config files or a patch to allow me to install it? I need a solution other than switching operating systems so I can get on with hosting servers. I can host steam games, Doom games, Quake III arena games, and Unreal servers no problem.
Maybe could I bypass the OS check if anyone could help me out?
