PB Kick for Duplicate CDKEY

I was trying to test out my clan's new CoD4 Server with my brother, and we use the same CDKEY. However, upon entering, PB bans my IP for 2 minutes because we have duplicate CD keys. I've played on other servers with him at the same time, so why is this the only one that bans me for it?

Also, I tried turning off PB temporarily by putting 'set sv_punkbuster "0"' in the config.cfg file, but nothing happened. It still banned me, and the server browser still says PB is on.

What gives? Help appreciated.

Sorry, but "Buy another copy of COD4" springs to mind...

You have come to the wrong place if you want advice on getting out of purchasing 2 copies of the game.

I'm able to play both PCs at the same time on every other server I've ever tried, which has been a lot in the last 6 months or so, so it doesn't seem like mine should be doing that.

Alright, If all other servers ARE supposed to kick for duplicate CD keys, is there someway I can buy another CD key without paying full price for the game? All I need is the key, I don't need another copy of the software or something like that.

spawning the multiplayer is allowed under the license agreement. so you don't need to. i'm not sure on the server setting to get pb to stop booting you.

The solution to this problem can be done with a simple command.

at the end of the MP shortcut you put

+set net_port 28940

This should solve the problem.

Where would I put this? In my shortcut to play CoD4?
Why would this solve my problem anyway?
