i think you should change "For install punkbuster into linux:" to Instal punkbuster into Debian/ubuntu :P

Hi, sorry to bump such an old thread. But I've been searching elsewhere but couldn't find it. I can't figure out where to put the config file. I've tried in the Mods folder, the main folder and root folder of my COD4 installation. But it doesn't seem to load it. I need to manually input the rcon password and server hostname after I run ./cod4_lnxded. I've tried with "+set dedicated 2 +set map_rotate +exec server.cfg", which is the same I used to run with on my windows server. The code was the like this: "username@host:~$./cod4_lnxded +set dedicated 2 +set map_rotate +exec server.cfg".

Hope someone knows how to.

EDIT: The config.cfg has to be in the /main folder, althought, in order for mods to work, you need to rename the folder "Mods" to "mods". Then use +set fs_game mods/<yourmod> and it worked for me. Now my only problem is, it won't get ranked. :S Just keep sending heartbeat to cod4master.activision.com, but doesn't resolve it.

Just a quick FYI to anyone using 64bit linux OS. I'm running Ubuntu 8.10 AMD64 and I had heaps of issues trying to get pbsetup or cod4_lnxded to run. Turns out they require certain 32bit libraries to run.

Just apt-get install ia32-libs

is there anyway of running this on a ppc64 platform (ps3 ubuntu)?

When i try to connect to server via internet, it says key code in use but when i am connecting to my server over intranet, everythink is ok...

PB problem when i try ./cod4_lnxded +set dedicated 2 +set sv_punkbuster 0 +exec mp-server.cfg it wrote sv_punkbuster is write protected

trying my very best to learn about linux and hosting a cod4 ded. server (at home)
i was wondering about this with "command lines"... When i start my server (first start yesterday) i right-clicked on co4_lnxded and choosed "run in terminal".

but then (as you might know) i just start the server without any IP:Port setting, no nothing, LOL. Then i read about the commandlines (im used to them but in windows). Now, how do i the easiest way do this in linux? would it be possible to use some sort of script for launching the cod4 server? like a .BAT file?

Can someone please help me

what i have done so far is:
installed Ubuntu 9.04 (desktop)
created my user/home
copied the content (all of it) from my cod4DVD to my home dir
downloaded linux server bins and placed the files in the cod4 dir (as told in the read-me)

i think (and hope) that the only thing im missing now is to launch the server with all of the commandlines making it vissible online.

I found a .zip containg a server cfg (and some other files like map rotate and so on) that i have placed in the main folder. I did edit the server cfg with my own settings.

So how do i make a script that will launch everything, LOL

i placed the linuxbox in the DMZ zone in my router (dir-655) so it wont be behind the firewall.

Ok.. Got the server up... Got another problem... Ended up on CentOS instead of Ubuntu.

Any one got some suggestions on how to start the server up on booting?
