I d/l the 1.7 patch and at first I saw about 23000 servers but something happened and now I only see about 6900 servers. I tried changing the filters and even default but still the same thing. My firewall is allowing the COD4 program and both A and B punkbuster but no effect. Still don't know what is wrong.

the server was patched from the provider, and we must waith the patching of the server...i think in 2 week all server are patched

I don't get it. My friend used the 1.7 patch and all the servers showed up on his. Also, I shortly had all the servers after I loaded up the patch but something happened and most of them are gone now.

Me too, and it's why I joined this board. I installed 1.7 Sunday night, saw a huge jump in the number of servers (It had gone down to 6000 or so before I realized there was another update. Usually it's around 15-16000 servers average for me) played for a bit and then out of knowwhere had PB start kicking me. Relogged in a couple times hoping to resolve it and THEN noticed the server number had dropped BACK to 6000-ish AND had a little update ticker on its main page. Clicking it it told me to install 1.7. Huh? I already did!?!?!

Now I'm stuck. Three seperate and complete uninstalls and reinstalls and whenever I get up to the 1.7 patch (All taken from different sites, last one being infinity) it thinks it hasn't been updated, wants an update, and when I try it again says I can't, it's already at 1.7 . Three f'n times so far and no change or even an avenue or idea to persue.

It worked once, barely, with the PB problems, but at least it knew it was updated and showed the updated servers etc. Now? I can't even get back the THAT state.

If it makes you feel any better, and I doubt it will, someone out there is having the same issue.

* I should add - complete uninstall means registry entries/folders/.ini file... everything. I even took off old COD's just in case, again down to the last reference. No change in behavior though.

And I should note it'd been working flawlessly up until now - 1.4 patch, 1.5... never an issue.

I was able to get them back, still with issues, but they're definitely 1.7 servers and the numbers are back to normal.

After the sixth uninstall/reinstall I decided to hell with it, I'll experiment. I fired up the game after the 1.6 patch but without replacing the saved players folder from before the uninstall (Before I'd simply cut and pasted the whole player folder from/to the main activision folder, before even firing it up). I was on long enough to create a quick profile, since I had to and in name only, "GGG", and then checked the server list. All old. I exited and then copied the saved mpdata file only from before and placed it into the "Program Files - Activision - players - profiles - GGG" file.

Then, since the names were different then before (I don't know why, just thought it'd be better that way) I changed the player folder where the mpdata file is located from GGG back to the normal John D'oh! I also swapped out the old "active" text file, since it uses your player name, in the same folder with the old as well.

And.. they're back. All the servers and at the normal numbers. And I even asked, looking like a fool, on the server itself - all 1.7. But the stupid 'update now' ticker is still there and I lost my graphic settings and key bindings. Not too bad since I don't change from default much, but it's killing me not remembering what graphic/texture settings I had before, that ran great.

I could tinker some more with the various files in John D'oh! but forget it. From what I'm reading trying to figure out my own issue, reading everybody else's leads me to believe this game is held together by scotch tape. It works, it's easier than it sounds, and the servers that were gone up until now are back. Go with what you got.

God only knows if it'll work for you, but I never return to post followups and thought I should. Once. Best of luck!!

I have tried downloading all of the patches again but it still does not come up with alot of serves. Also when there is a game it says awaiting key code athizitioncan some one help i love cod 4. Has some one taken my key code?

I'm still playing with the 1.6 patch, as are most of the servers that I see...

Isn't 6000+ servers enough anyway? Look for one with a ping below 100 and go play...

I'm on 1.7 and this morning when i refreshed the list, it gave me a total of +21000 servers on the 1.7 patch.

Did you check how your server filter is set. Try making some adjustments there.
Oh, hit the refresh button (I know this sounds stupid, but if you haven't done that it won't show anything)
Nobody took your keycode, i get the "keycode authorization" thingy too from time to time. it just logs into the game after a few secs.

It's because version 1.7 isn't backwards compatible. The servers you saw before installing the patch would of been an earlier version than 1.7 and so you won't see them after installing 1.7. The only solution is to wait for the owners to update their server, or for you to go back to an earlier patch.
