I am keep trying but as far as i see nothing good hapens.
When (with awe4 1.3 mod instaled) make the server run a mod map (offeces_3 for example and to be sure it runs i runing a listen server and this i have it changed in my .cfg file) and an other PC in local network trying to "see" me, it doesn't.
In the sortcut line i have try both lines: C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\iw3mp.exe" +set dedicated 2 +set fs_game mods/awe4 +exec server.cfg +map_rotate"
and
C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\iw3mp.exe" +set fs_game mods/awe4 +exec server.cfg +map_rotate"

Now if i do the awe4 install again (in a clean game backup) and try to change the .cfg so only one or two maps are in it and cleanup the iwd (so there is only image folder in it) then it doesn't see the maps at all.I even try to place all the files (map folder with two .ff in it and mod file.iwd) in the usermaps folder.Nothing again.LOL i will keep trying to find it until someone write a complete walkthrough on this pain in the @ss mod (for me).I unterstand that it is not right for someone do all the job and give it to all us but they are people that KNOW what to do from the first time the mod came out.The rest we are ...just new.

Your English is fine.

Just change the AWE4 foldername to something else, because people go on other AWE4 mods which creates the AWE4 folder in there Mods directory, then when they go onto yours you might have a different version and they will get kicked out for impure client... call it arena_awe4

We have popped the 2 .ff files into there folders in the mods like you have said, then pop the .iwd into the awe4 folder in mods. I have read about modding the .iwd files but havent touched them myself.

Config files are ready to run straight away, you can just change the Hostname & rconpassword in the server.cfg then play straight away. You can tweak gametype settings when you find you dont like something. You could also take out Airstrikes & Helicopters if you dont like them.

This is taken from our modded config

You will need dedicated 1 for a LAN Server, and net_ip as your internal address ie 192.168.x.x

Hey all, new to posting here...
I have never in my life set up a server for CoD4, but after hours at work, we have LAN games and we are having a blast!

I have taken it upon myself to try to figure this out because we are bored with the same maps. I have followed the guides here to set up a server, but to someone really new to this there is a bunch of stuff left out. Like
Where are the .cfg files i need to modify, if i downloaded AWE4 1.2 there is a bunch of cfg files in there, can i use those? If so where do i put them?

once in game, and you select Mods, where do you go, what do you do to get a dedicated server running? What are the commands to start the server, command line parameters, etc, etc

Would really appreciate a "Setting up a server with custom maps for dummies" kind of help lol. I really need some hardcore noob help here with this.

I make it to work and i manage to run 10 mod maps.The big problem is that if a client start to download the necessary files (map and mod) the download is only 8kbit witch is nothing.I have the server in "LAN" mod and it runs like a dedicated.I don't have a redirect URL as i dont need it because the server is not for the internet.I try in stant of URL(in the config) to write there the local path but didn't work.


By the way, in AWE4 1.3 all the three files of the map goes to "usermap" folder,The map that have only two files in it didn't work at all and end up with an error after loading.I don't know how in all forum all people say that the third file (.iwd) don't need any more.
To me work with all three files together.

So to my problem...
Is there an other way to make it download faster (the most the better)???

If any one can help please do, i need it bad.

Well what i did was to copy all usermap folder and the AWE4 mod folder with the two mod file .ff and all the map.iwd files in the clients.
I cant find a way to make the download faster in LAN setup.

To give an idea "Terial" the All thing is not difficult when you now what is what.Well i thing you ask for help and i will try

First download one map in a download place in this nice forum(Welcome to IWNation the two .ff files and make a folder with the same name and put them in there (example:lets say the map name is mp_offices_3.The folder name must be the same:mp_offices_3).
This folder (mp_offices_3) must be in the folder "usermaps" which you must CREATE in the Game Main Directory (where the other folders are:Mods,Miles etc Make a new folder called "usermaps" inside of your directory.Do not put into "main" folder, put it beside the "main" folder.)
In the folder mp_offices_3 must be the two .ff files (mp_offices_3.ff and mp_offices_3_load.ff) but if you r not sure is not bad to put the mp_offices_3.iwd in the same folder.
Now, if you have a mod (lets say the AWE4 mod) make an other folder in the Mods folder (i rename the "Mods" to "mods" couse they say is better), and place in that folder (for example:AWE4 or any other name you like) the two mod file comes with the mod mod.ff and z_awe4.iwd (i have rename the z_awe4.iwd in to zzz_awe4.iwd again for the same reason).IN the Mod folder you did create paste the
mp_offices_3.iwd you did download for the mp_offices_3 map.

Now you have a mod name INSIDE the "Mod" directory and a "usermaps" folder in the game directory (where all folder of the game are)

Now make a copy of your multiplayer sortcut on the desktop and add the following(right after \iw3mp.exe and a space): +set dedicated 1 +set fs_game mods/awe4 +exec server.cfg +map_rotate

Now you have a server running and sould "see" the server throught a client.This is a LAN server (in a local lan).If you want an internet Dedicated server (0 = Listen, 1 = LAN, 2 = Internet) write this in dedicated ("2").This (0 = Listen, 1 = LAN, 2 = Internet) can be change in the server (i thing) config file when you edit it with a notepad.

I did have a question though

in the command line there is a section which says:
+exec server.cfg

is this a default file from the install of the game, or is this a file i create/modify from somewhere?

Where can I edit the scope movement in the config files?

I am setting up a non-dedicated server for and LAN for just a few of us.
We want to stop the constant movement of the scope for sniper rifles.

I have been on a couple of servers that have this movement stoped.


Also, how do I set it up for the scope to have a zoom in/out, say 1 to 8?

Hi. I just registered to leave an answer for this particular problem. Your webhost most likely has mod_security running. I had this problem awhile back and disabling it allowed for the downloads to go at top speed. Now Im not sure how it was allowed but my friend has it hosted on his server and he allowed it somehow with a rule change exception and now they download fast. But I am 99% sure thats why your download is not redirecting. Hope this helps.

i did exactly as you said and it says mp_slide.ff is deffernt fro mthe server any solutions?

how can i get my awe.cfg changes in my server. because i try to make some differense but if i change my awe.cfg options lets say hc and then i go my server launching awe4 mod but it still keeps being normal rather than hc what i must do that it makes differense.. little help pls.
