now ive been running my server pretty good but here is the down fall
when i have to reboot or anything my port changes

and its not 28960 or 28010 it 64002 or 62727 and just keeps changing
on me and i have to find someone to find the server to get the port number then tell my members how to join. and when in game their view of my port number is this :-1234

Your port specified for your server (when dedicated) is set like so:

Obviously replace x.x.x.x with your external IP Address. Otherwise creating a Listen Server should use the default of 28960 which is the game port.

Never heard of that problem before... you could always not reboot

i tried that and the port number is not 28960 its always 62*** or 63*** and 64***
port numbers ive tried the thing u gave me and put it in the command line. and also in my server cfg and still cant get it.

are you sure you are entering it in correctly? because it should work right....

I have the same problem, my port is set in the .cfg as 28960 but everytime i start the server the port changes to -XXXX. There is no different as to set the "target" +set net_ip x.x.x.x +set net_port 28960 . I do think it's a router related problem and would like to know how to fix this aswell as i have no knowledge about routers(i did forward the ports as was explained in a tutorial). I am lucky to have more pc's ro run so i can easy find out my port, but that's not the way it supose to go.

Try and use the ports in 1 place, i like to use it on the command line and not have it in the config at all, this allows for quick changes to the ports when needed.

Does it say in the console that the port is set to 2896x ? If so can you copy it or screen print to show us.

I know the SRCDS Server for Steam Apps jumps to the next port number if it is in use or cant get info back, but to my knowledge COD has never done this...

I cant make a screen shot from when the console starts up, it goes to fast and it wont let me scroll back for it. However, in my "local network" i have the 28960 port, and if what you said "for Steam Apps jumps to the next port number if it is in use or cant get info back" , it might see 28960 in use on my pc and therefor goes to the next port available for the internet. So now the question: How do i change the port for my "local" access and get the "internet "access to 28960??
