No servers in list, can't connect manually

ok so i just bought this game yesterday of steam and yes i am on a pc. And i have been having a blast with tf2 and cs.s but know when i play cod4 it wont let me play any games or it wont find any servers so i could pl;ay in and also i have try game trackers.com and when i try getting into their servers itll say awaiting connection...1..2...3..4 and so on intill to ..11 and then it says ERROR: server connection timed out also i will sometimes hit refresh and itll say on the top left of the screen : getting info for 17790 server but nothing happens after that plz help i would love to play this game online it looks sick and i have played it on my xbx and it was a blast hopefully you can help me out buy tell me wut i have to do to fix this problem

I have the new 1.6 patch and I too can not connect manually. When I refresh the list it tries to contact the host but it fails to do so because I do not see any servers. My friend tried to set up a LAN game and I can't see it either. It might be my firewall but I disabled that (I am at home). Any one have any fixes? I've tried turning off my firewall.

I got the same problem, searches master server and finds nothing. I do not have any firewall up so that cant be a problem. I got the 1.6 patch installed and am not running any 3rd party programs interfering with my connection. I am on a router with 2 housemates, one of them got COD4 aswell and has no problems with server list. So that practically cancels the router as the problem. The only possible reason I can come up with atm is the fact im running Windows XP and he is using Vista. Other than that our computers are identical. Anyone know if this might cause my refreshing malfunction?

I just realized that I have Norton Internet security installed on my vista computer. This might be a problem since I haven't added COD to the allow list. I will try this when I get back home in a couple of days. I'll post back here if anything magic happens.

I'm having a similar problem. First thing i noticed was there was a message saying, "synchronizing game settings..." and it would just hang (this was after i updated COD4 to version 1.6). When i tried refreshing the server list, nothing showed up. Help would be most appreciated!

K I added COD4 to the Norton Internet security firewall and it works now.
