Default stopping power on the m40

Hi

I have a simple question. Should I have stopping power on my m40 sniper? I want to use overkill but im worried that if I do I wont be able to kill the target in one shot. Does stopping power make a difference on this gun? I play team death match and headquarters matches only.

Thanks very much

It depends. How good are you with the M40? If you are a good handler with the gun and can make quick successful shots then no, you do not need Stopping Power. In any other case, if you are new to the sniper class, or to the M40 specifically, then Stopping Power is recommended.

I get alot of kills but I also get alot of hits that dont kill them... I currently use stopping power, I thought it was a one shot kill where ever I hit them. I am not the best sniper in the world but I have been practising for a few days so I am not that bad...

Thanks very much

i would say that you need stopping power if you want one shot kills, no matter how good you are with a sniper without stopping power its 50/50 for a one shot kill

50/50 without stopping power? I don't think so. You need to try aiming for the head or neck not the body. M40 is great for new snipers but constantly reloading and the slow rate of fire will cause you to miss lots of opportunities and will most likely get you killed sooner or later.

Sniping takes practice. Not Stopping Power. The best snipers will be using UAV Jammer or Overkill. Personaly I use UAV Jammer because the idea is not to be so close to your enemy that you cannot use your scope. Even with as week as the M21 is you still don't need it because you can fire 2 accurate shots so quickly.

Every sniper has its pros and cons, you just need to find the one that suits you best. In my opinion the Dragunov is the best all around sniper. Many people disagree with me on this but the only other sniper I will use is the M21. The M40 is too slow for me and I honestly cannot see any reason to choose either the R700 or the 50 cal except to get a 150 headshots with each. When you breakdown the stats the only damage difference between the Dragunov, R700 and 50 Cal is the Dragunov has a 1.0 stomach multiplier and the other 2 have a 1.1. Dragunov has faster fire rate than both, is much easier to aim, and mine is shiny Gold Plated.

Anywho, to make a long story short, Stopping Power is not necessary.

I'm going to try to make this easy.

M40 + Stopping Power = Kill people in one shot to the head, neck, torso.
M40 - Stopping Power = 1/5 KD Ratio

M40 + Stopping Power + Acog = 1 hit Kill anywhere on body, normally, try not to shoot trough walls then.

Stopping power is a necessity for a rushing sniper, if you don't use it, you will get killed because as a rushsniper, you don't have time to take the second shot on the same target.

THE BEST SNIPER USES OVEKILL, sorry man, that's a load of crap, just pick up weapons from killed enemies. The best sniper will be first only using his rifle.
So you actually say that you are willing to give up one shot kills to be able to get yourself a second weapon?

If you wan't to use the M40 without Stopping power, either play hardcore or be damn sure to only take head or neckshots. Otherwise you will die.

Stopping power is a must to m40 barret and r700 ,its usefull for m21 and for dragunov is the opponents use jug , if you use stopping power the best is m40 cause is has the least recoil than the other 2 , if you use overkill or jammer use dragunov or m21, but i suggest dragunov cause it can kill at neck at upper torso compare to m21 which kills only at head but has less recoil . Never use m40 without stopping power .

I never use Overkill and I never pick up other people's weapons when they die. If I do than I might have trouble calling in all my Airstrikes and Choppers. That is why I said the point of sniping is not too let them get close enough to need a second weapon. Stopping Power is an over rated perk. I have 5 custom classes that I use all the time.

1. Red M21
2. Golden Dragunov
3. Red M14
4. Gold M60
5. Blue P90

Those are my weapons of choice. Only the M14 class has Stopping Power because that makes it a one shot kill to the head.

FYI - All snipers are one shot kills to the head and neck unless they have Juggernaut on. That is why I said to practice and always go for headshots. As a sniper you should not be aiming for the torso or chest. I always aim for the head and never shoot through walls. So what you are saying is that because you can't aim and are afraid that the other person will have Juggernaut, you use Stopping Power? Then don't be upset when I pop up out of the grass and knife you because you are on radar and I'm not.

The only thing you said I agree with is the M40 + ACOG being a one shot kill. Some people like it, some don't. I'm one who does not. Acog scope means I have to get closer than what I consider a safe sniping distance so I do not use it. I also prefer the accuracy of the standard scope.

In the end it's your own personal preference.

well sickboy there is four onto one sayin stopping power is essential for one shot kill. your using standard scope so you have time to aim up sounds like your miles away from anyone then you can line up headshots. an ive tried a sniper without stopping power (m40 acog) an it takes 2 bullets on nearly everyone so i think your talking crap
