Today i was playing SnD on strike...our team won in 4 rounds, and i went 12 kills, 1 death..700 points
It went to the screen, (when u press select)
and suddenly, the PS3 just shut off!! all that for nothing
it was probably a loose plug..

Has something like this ever happened to you?

Yep, I think sometimes after long sessions of playing the PS3 gets too hot and shuts off or something.

I bought a USB Fan, didn't happen again

Not quite, but similar.
I was in the middle of a game, having a particularly good game. When BAM. My screen went blank. Naturally this made my room completely dark (I have a theater). I still hear people talking through my headset. Im pretty confused at this point. I look back, my PS3 is still on. Im thinking "Whats going on"?
Sure enough, my AV Receiver for my surround sound kicked off. I tried to turn it back on, but it was in protect mode.
DANGIT. I lost my picture and Sound.
Now I had to turn off everything. Had to go out and buy a new Receiver. That sucked.

Try not to let it happen again because that is really bad for your PS3. It's the equivalent of turning it off directly by the switch at the back. If your PS3 gets shut down like that, it can totally screw your Blu-ray reader and you won't be able to play any games/movies.

Hiya zcsman, strange thing that. Syndromes is scarier though. None of that has ever happened to me. Sometimes the screen freezes when i send messages so that's it. Whats wrong with ps3s breaking all the time. Not as bad as the 3 red lights of death on the 360. That happened to me and i bought myself a brand new elite which doesn't do that (still paying for it). Probably lose power cable. See ya!

yea thats happend to me b4 i was sooo pist i thought my ps3 just fried and i had to buy another one but a few min later i was able to turn it back on

mine freezes sometimes when i try send messages.
and sometmes mid game t will throw me back t the xmb for no reason
