its happened to me a few times in s&d it doesnt assign you to a team so u can just move around the map and zoom in and out by pressing the L1 and R1 buttons its good cos you can see the whole map and everyones movement from the sky. Press the select button and you can choose a team.

i think its just trying to catch up with the controller like you might have been pressing a button and it only responded like 5 seconds later or something
