I spent a lot of time searching through old posts for an answer to this question and found a lot suggestions based on people's personal preference. I was hoping to find more statistics in the posts to back up the personal preferences, which is the reason for this post.

Before I go any further, I want to clarify that my definition for a stealth class is two silenced weapons, UAV Jammer, and Dead Silence. Okay, now that is out of the way...the source of my statistical research was: denkirson's Xanga Site

There were certain personal preferences/reasons of my own that helped me narrow the possibilities:

1. Rate of Fire

I personally feel that a automatic weapon is required for a stealth class. There is a tendency to encounter groups of enemies when you are moving in stealth and burst-fire or single-fire would be a disadvantage. So rule out all weapons that are not automatic.

2. Range

I personally feel that range is always important regardless of the class (but dependent on the map). While it can be argued that it should be easy to close the gap between you and your opponent when using a stealth class...we all know that is not always the case. Since I was looking for best all-around silenced weapon, I was able to rule out SMGs due to their lack of range (especially with a silencer attached).

This left me with Assault weapons as the only other weapon that can be silenced. Because of the automatic-fire requirement I was left with the AK-47, M4, and G36C. This is where is became more difficult.

3. Damage (here is the statistical part)

The AK-47 has the best damage at 40-30 (damage reduction occurring between 35-45 meters). Most of us are aware that there is a bug in COD4 when you add a silencer to an AK-47 reducing the damage to 40-20. The M4 and G36C both have a damage output of 30-20.

Side notes: range is always reduced when Assault rifles are silenced (damage reduction occurring between 12-25 meters instead of at 35-45 meters). The M4 and G36C have a better ROF, but because you already are lacking Stopping Power when you have UAV Jammer enabled...the base damage output is more important (this is where I think the most debate will occur). The kick of the guns is also a factor, but when a silencer is attached it becomes minimal.

So based on the information available it would seem that the best silenced weapon to use with your stealth class would be...the AK-47.

Yep, I read your guide Luetin. It was very helpful and influenced a lot of my initial decisions about how to set up my ghost class. The only thing missing was the damage ratings, range stats, and kick info. I thought that including that might help frame a more in-depth discussion, especially if I included the link to the stats I used so people could form their own opinions. All said, you guide rocks bro.

Also, I had a problem with the single-fire weapons because I kept ending up between the enemy and their spawn points when I flanked them and started taking them out. With the single-fire weapon I kept dieing due to not being able to put out enough rounds to get them all. Also, the 20 round mag on the M14 with 40 in reserve was not as appealing as the 30 round mag with 60 in reserve the AK-47 had.

I very much disagree. The AK-47 has a bug that brings down its hit damage. I suggest the AK-74u, P90, and the M4. Then another would be a MP5.

I use either the G3, M14, MP5 or P90 for Stealth. Used to use the AK for a while but I got kinda board of it.

mp5 and m4 are way better for stealthing imo, and I enjoy the mobility of the smgs, easier to get around, and easier to flank

maps like shipment, I always go with the supressed P90, but maps like Countdown it has to be the AK47.

I had 63 kills with the silenced AK47 on Countdown, and over 100 on Shipment with the P90.... cqc=p90 open plan=ak47... thats my rule anyway

Yeah, I mentioned that in my write up:

So, even with the bug it is still superior to the AK-74u (40-20 with much less range with a silencer attached), P90 (30-20 with much less range with a silencer attached), and the M4 (30-20 with the same range with the silencer attached).

u will need stop power for the ak47 and then u wont be as stealthy
i will include the noob weapons (p90) in my opinion here:
in order of best to worst(all are good to use just imo the best of the best to the worst of the best)
1. p90 (who the F*CK says u cant snipe with this...i hav dub tap on it or uav jam on it wen i silence it, i snipe with it on wet works...i got about 5 kills this way on a 7 round SnD match....whos the noob who says u cnt snipe with it, cuz i use it to snipe and hav been sniped by it.)
2. g36c i used this alot when getting red tiger and it works wonders, use impact not dead silence, just trust me on this one.
3. mp5 this thing is like haxing if u steady aim it
4. g3 it just owns and i can rapidfire it without mouswheel
5. ak47, but u gotta use stop power not uav jam...
6. ak75, good power and not a bad weap
7. other weaps
