Hello fellow gamers. I am new to this site but not new to the Call of Duty Series. I finally came across the dreaded iw3mp.exe problem. I have tried updating drivers and such but no luck. I need to know where to find my save file so I can hopefully uninstall the game and not lose my profile. I have run searches for this topic on this site with no luck. Thanks in advance.

First of all, Welcome to the COD4Boards

I think you have three options

1. Insert the Cod4 CD (if you have retail version). Open the CD like when you installed the game. There should be an uninstalloption there. Make sure you keep the MPdata and controls saved. It will ask you if you want to keep them so click yes. Delet all the rest. Then restart the PC. Now reinstall the game. (Could be that you have to open the reinstall manually, I had to do this. Not trough the CD autorun, but open the CD with Explorer and search for the setup.exe)
2. Try deleting everything with the programmanager. Press the Windowslogo in the bottom left corner, open control panel, open programs and software, open programmanager, look for COD4 and the uninstall will start running. Same here for the MPdata and controls.
3. Look for the folder C:\Program Files\Activision\Call Of Duty 4 You can manually delete this folder. Be sure to backup the folder C:\Program Files\Activision\Call Of Duty 4\Players\Profile this contains your Multiplayer stats. I don't know if this will install everything that needs to be uninstalled. So try the first two first. Then reinstall the game and copy the backup in to the new COD4 folder

Thank you very much. That worked perfectly for me. Now when I update do I have to install all of the patches seperately or can I use the v1.7 patch?

Well I suggest you update to patch 1.6 trough the Infinity ward website. Because it has all the previous patches also. i don't know if the 1.7 one has every other patch included.
After that you can update trough the autoupdate button above the join game button.

I'm glad I found this, helped me too. Though I didn't know about the MP Player file till afterwords, lost rank and everything. No biggie, gives me something to do again! lol
