Hi Guys/Girls,

I am new to this forum therefore please be gentle! lol

I have downloaded the 282Mb COD4 1.6 patch via Nvidia but when I come to install it I get the error message:

X Windows NT and Windows 95/98/ME/2000 are not supported.

I never had this on the 1.4 and 1.5 patches. Any ideas?

I rectified the situation by UNCHECKING the Compatibility option on the installer! Great, everything worked fine and it updated first time after I had done that!

Now... none of the new maps, including the old Christmas Crash, do not work and cause COD4 to crash. I am unable to see why it crashes due to the nature and position of the windows error box on the screen.

Is their anyway I can find out why it is crashing?

Just to add that everything else works including modded maps etc.

Sorted it...

I just got a good friend to send me the Map Files from his working maps. Moved the faulty map files and replaced them with his... Hey Presto! Working maps :-))

Hi there I am new this forum. I installed the new 1.6 call of duty 4 patch which I downloaded from fileshack 282mb, it was working fine yesterday morning now all of a sudden I can not get a ping or see what servers are busy.
I tried uninstalling the game and then reinstalled it to patch 1.5, it tells me I do not have the correct server version 1.6. So I updated it to the new 1.6 patch again. I managed to get into one of the hardcore severs with nobody on. Then the game froze my PC. So I restarted and now I don't get a ping or even get in the Game. And yes my internet is on and working. And the firewall is off. Does anybody else have this problem. PLEASE HELP

Ken DL the patch again.. it is possible to miss a little bit of the file when you DLd it.
