so i have a computer rig that im letting my bro use for cod4.

Pentium 4 @ 3.0ghz (single core)
1.5 gigs of RAM
ATI x850 pro 256mb

i have everything turned off/low with a custom config of no textures and no character detail. the gist is that i have the game as low as it can possibly go and i still get lag. i am sure i can power more out of this rig for the game. ( don't give me a bunch of fps commands i already know them all) Any idea of how to fix this?

No way, you're going to seriously struggle with that setup...

The CPU and the RAM are ok, but the graphics card doesn't meet minimum specification (GF6600/9800pro), sorry

I'm not that well up on ATI... Last ATI card I owned was a RageII 3D, I think it had 4 or 8mb... Was brilliant at the time, played carmageddon at max settings, back in 1995/96???

You say you know all the fps commands, but just check CoD4 FPS tips and Best Possible Computer Setup There may be some tweaks in either of those posts that you're currrently unaware of.
