Well, i wouldn't really rather shooting laser beams and such. But a little futuristic characteristics would bring some excitement to the game at the very least.
But other than that, some modern but not futuristic weapons, that aren't usualy in a FPS would be great.

Lets say futuristic as in like playing with the weapons you see on future weapons, that would be cool, you know it's in the near future, that is cool, but like star wars kinda future I don't like.
Alright, now activision kinda screwed up their series at the beginning, they should have done it like this:
Call of Duty 1: World War I
Call of Duty 2: World War 2
Call of Duty 3 (Which should have been on PC): The war in Vietnam
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (should be much longer, have more weapons bla bla (like the other ppl said))
Call of Duty 5 (not "World at War" (dumb ass name anyway)): but Future warfare (I personally would like to see a game that has futuristic weapons and a war is humans vs humans, not like in halo humans vs weird ass beings, or like in Quake 4 (same beings in Enemy territory quake wars "Strogos") humans vs weirder ass beings (now those are really weird))
Eventually Call of duty 6: Apocalypse or smthn, then they should make some remakes, but about that later om...
This way they screwed it all up, for first: world war II three times in Call of Duty 1,2,3. Then SUDDENLY Modern Warfare out of nowhere, then back in world war II, in which case they didn't even titled it #5, crap. Then you speak of the future warfare, what will be next, back in Vietnam, so we have a crap hold of mixed titles, in some cases no numbers, back and forth in the future an past, its total BS. With that world at war title they really screwed things up, although it looks cool, infinity ward isn't the maker or makeist of the game, so we can expect a lot of ****... Now i believe i have a valuable argument here, some ppl will disagree with my 5th and 6th proposal of the game, but pretty much everyone feels the same way, i mean they really could have made it that way, just the sequences of the game would be breathtaking, really playing all bigger wars in one series, and in correct order, really cool, they should even put Price in EVERY game, just for fun, that would really attract people to buy the series even more. Now after #6 of Call of Duty's they should make remakes, since there would be weak graphics in 1,2,3 they could upgrade it and add loads of better stuff and a continuence (if this is a word) of the missions, like a storymode. Later when the graphics in Call of duty 4 (for eg.) becomes considered obsolete, they could change it to better and add thing i listed before. And yes I really can write a lot. :-D

exactly what I was thinking
